Use AI to plan a celebration

A practical sounding board for your ideas, budget, and timeline.

Secretly Domestic editorial guide

Technology and hands-on creativity belong together. An AI assistant can help organize ideas, draft a shopping list, or spot an overambitious schedule. You still make the decisions about taste, people, and what matters.

1. Give it the real constraints

Describe the occasion, approximate guest count, budget, available time, and what you already own. Ask for three distinct directions instead of a huge unfiltered list. Avoid sharing private guest information.

2. Try a useful starting prompt

“Help me plan a relaxed gathering for eight adults at home. I have two hours to prepare, want one handmade detail, and prefer to use things I already own. Ask me about my supplies, then suggest a menu outline, a simple table idea, and a preparation schedule.”

3. Turn inspiration into a plan

Choose your favorite direction and ask for tasks grouped by day. Separate make-ahead jobs from last-minute jobs. Review every estimate yourself and remove anything that does not fit your actual week.

4. Use it for creative variations

Ask for color combinations, wording for a menu card, or ways to reuse the same paper-flower design at different celebrations. Compare the ideas against your own style rather than accepting the first answer.

5. Check the practical details

Verify recipes, food handling, allergies, product availability, and printing measurements yourself. Generated images are inspiration, not proof that a project can be made exactly as pictured. Test one sample before making a whole batch.

A little plan helps.
